Family After-school Art Session

In year 2 we really like to involve parents and families as much as we can. The drop-in sessions throughout the year will offer the opportunity for children to show/explain what we have been doing in school as well taking part in more fun sessions! Everyone is welcome!!

Our first drop-in was an 'Arcimboldo Art' session after school on Friday and it was great to see so many parents, grandparents, brothers, sisters and cousins come along and get involved.

Please post a comment with any feedback or suggestions. Did you come along to the session? What did you enjoy about it? If you couldn't come, is there anyway future sessions could be organised so you could come? Do you have any suggestions for future drop-in sessions or any other ideas to strengthen the partnership with parents in year 2?

Look out for the 'Diwali' family drop-in session after the half-term break.

Arcimboldo Art

Out artwork was inspired by Italian artist Giuseppe Arcimboldo. He created portraits using fruit, vegetables and other natural materials. Children in year 2 designed and then created their own Arcimboldo style portraits. These hands-on sessions were enjoyed by all and offered lots of opportunity for discussion and collaborative working.

A fruitful week!!!

It's been a very busy week in year 2 with lots of fun learning going on.

In literacy children wrote their own recipes and then made fruit salads.

Our instructions display in class.

Even more family trees!!

Well done!

More Measuring

In maths we are continuing to learn how to measure.

Children used decimetre strips to measure different items...

...and each other!

Some children even measured Mrs Taylor! :-)

Healthy Eating

Today we were learning about healthy eating and a balanced diet.
