Half-term Hero
At the end of every half-term Mr Mellor chooses a nomination out of the 'Class Heroes' box. Our first hero of the year is Freya - voted for by Fearne for being a really good friend. Both girls received a small bag of Cadburys Heroes chocolates.
Playground Pals
The children in year 2 voted in a boy and girl from the class to become the KS1 Playground Pals. The children with the most votes were Lucy and Max and I am sure they will do a great job. They were very proud to receive their badges.
Playground Pals are always on hand if anyone is upset or lonely in the playground.

Cinema Trip
We were treated to a trip to the cinema to watch Monsters University yesterday. It was a fantastic film and we all really enjoyed the morning.
We are very grateful to have received the tickets for free as part of National Film Week. Thank you to all our parent helpers too.

Toy Story
In maths today the children learnt how to sort items using a Venn diagram.
This is a Toy Story Venn diagram completed by Rosie. She worked super fast and independently sorted the pictures according to the criteria. Well done! :-)
All if the class loved today's Toy Story themed literacy lesson. We watched the short clip of Woody being fixed and then children had to correctly order stills from the film (showing the different stages he went through to be cleaned).
Although it has been a few weeks since our instructions unit in literacy, the children remembered how to write instructions using bossy verbs and sequencing words.
Outstanding instructions written by Rose.
National Film Week
This week all of the children in KS1 are taking part in the National Youth Film Festival. All of our lessons and learning will be linked to film. It is sure to be a fun filled week and we are really looking forward to our trip to the cinema in Bolton on Wednesday to see Monsters University.

Developing music skills
Julia has now started violin lessons with Mrs Elkinson. She showed the class her violin and how to take care of it and then gave us a demonstration.
Well done Julia :-)
