Happy 21st Birthday
Our lovely teaching assistant, Miss Baines, celebrated her 21st birthday last Monday and we showed our appreciation for all of her help in year 2.
What a kind and caring school!!
I want to say a huge thank you to everyone from school for their messages of support. I have received lots of very kind emails to our class gmail account from children and parents wishing me a speedy recovery and this has really helped to keep my spirits up!! I even got this wonderful picture message from Fearne and Jay...
Thank you so much for thinking of me, I miss you so much too and I can't wait to see you all!!! :-) X
Still making me proud :-)
I was so pleased to receive a message from Mr Mellor telling me that the whole of year 2 had been awarded 'Star of the Week' for continuing to work really hard and be brilliantly behaved in my absence. Well done and keep it up!!! :-)

A different kind of trip!!
Tuesday was meant to be a great day with a year 2 trip to the local heritage centre and library...however things didn't go to plan when Mrs Lynchey had a different kind of trip....
Waiting on the ambulance, being kept warm by the lovely Peel Brow staff!
But don't worry Mrs Lynchey is already on the road to recovery and even managed a smile and thumbs up in A&E :-)

Children in Need 2013
On Friday the children and staff at Peel Brow were invited to 'Show their Spots' to raise money for Children in Need.
Thank you to everyone for their super effort dressing up and very kind donations!!
Year 1 Instructions
Year 1 and Year 2 enjoyed working together again this week.
The children in year 1 have been working on an 'Instructions' unit in literacy lessons and they had to follow step-by-step instructions to teach children in year 2 how to make a ladybird puppet, after making one for themselves the previous day. The children worked brilliantly together and the y1s were so confident and helpful! It was also excellent to hear the y2s telling the y1s about sequencing words and bossy verbs and they had clearly remembered a lot from our own Instructions unit earlier in the term.
Thank you very much to Miss Burke, Mrs Booth, Mrs Mahmood and the year 1 children for all their hard work - we really enjoyed working with you!! The ladybird puppets are fab and weren't too hard to make with your clear instructions and help.
Year 2 xx
Family Pride!
Thank you so much to the children who have brought in precious memorabilia from family members to share with the class and display in our class 'museum'.
History
Following on from our Remembrance Day lessons, this week we have been learning about World War II.
WWII Timeline by Hollie.
We are really looking forward to our trip to Ramsbottom Heritage Centre & Library to look at artefacts from the war like a real gas mask!! Next week we will be learning more about 'The Blitz' and evacuation.

Looking For News - Issue 1 (October)
Children received their own printed copy of the first edition of 'Looking For News', the online European magazine that we contributed to.
They enjoyed reading it and completing the activities.
We look forward to starting our contribution to issue 2! Our section in the November edition is 'Our Town' and this fits in nicely with our current topic and next weeks local field trip!! Two children will be chosen as the official reporter and photographer for our trip, with their work featured in the next edition.
